Seadrill wins vessel contracts

VSP in Vietnam has awarded Seadrill a $105-million contract for the jackup West Ariel.

HAMILTON, Bermuda -- VSP in Vietnam has awarded Seadrill a $105-million contract for the jackup West Ariel. The assignment is for the drilling of 10 wells with expected duration of 18 months.

Seadrill has also been awarded a $152-million, three-year contract extension from ExxonMobil for the tender rigT9 in Malaysia. The extension will begin in mid-January 2009.

Seadrill controls 49% in Varia Perdana, which owns the T9 tender rig.
