Platform installed in Caspian for Petronas

Momentum Engineering, has installed a 1,000-metric ton (1,102-ton) platform in 60 m (197 ft) of water in the Caspian Sea, off of Turkmenistan, incident free, on time, and under budget for Petronas Caragali I MMHE.

DUBAI, UAE -- Momentum Engineering, has installed a 1,000- metric ton (1,102-ton) platform in 60 m (197 ft) of water in the Caspian Sea, off of Turkmenistan, incident free, on time, and under budget for Petronas Caragali I MMHE.

The jacket was installed in two sections. The first 400-metric ton (441-ton) section was lifted by Momentum's managed crane barge, and placed on the seabed floor. Then, four piles were hammered in to a depth of 68 m (223 ft).

The upper jacket section was then placed on top of the lower jacket section. Momentum's crew worked in 24-hour coverage to grout the second section. Finally, the deck section was placed on top of the jacket and the top side was welded.
