Bumi Armada launches workboat

SINGAPORE -- Bumi Armada Berhad has launched its 46th vessel, Armada Firman 2 from Drydocks World shipyard in Singapore.

The 75-m (246 ft) , 6000-bhp, DP-2 accommodation workboat is equipped with a 40-metric ton (44-ton) single wire line deck crane, 600 sq m (6,458 sq ft) deck space, and can accommodate 180 non-industrial personnel.

The Armada Firman 2, and its sister vessel, Armada Firman 3, to be completed by the end of 2008, are scheduled to work in Angola, says CEO Hassan Basma.

This is the fifth of 20 new vessels from the company's RM 1.1 billion ($340 million) newbuild program, with deliveries from 2007-2009.
