Pelican Offshore expands fleet with four new AHTS vessels

Pelican Offshore Services Pte. Ltd. has acquired four new anchor handling, towing, and supply (AHTS) vessels scheduled for delivery between 4Q 2009 and 2Q 2010.

SINGAPORE -- Pelican Offshore Services Pte. Ltd. has acquired four new anchor handling, towing, and supply (AHTS) vessels scheduled for delivery between 4Q 2009 and 2Q 2010.

Each 60-m (197-ft) AHTS will be equipped with a pair of 3,000 bhp main engines exerting a minimum bollard pull of 70 metric tons (77 tons), along with two bow thrusters and one stern thruster.

The AHTS will also have dynamic positioning to DP-2 standard, enabling less than 1-m (3.2-ft) accuracy in offshore station keeping; class 1 fire fighting pumps; accommodation for 26 people; 360-sq m (3,875-sq ft) clear deck area, complete with towing pins and shark jaws; 235-cu m (8,299 cu ft) storage capacity for liquid mud / brine; 295-cu m (10,428 cu ft) storage capacity for potable water; and 500-cu m (17,657-cu ft) storage capacity for fuel.

The vessels will be built in Malaysia.
