Port Fourchon to announce economic impact study results

PORT FOURCHON -- On Thursday, April 17, 2008, Port Fourchon officials, Economist Dr. Loren Scott, and Assistant Secretary of Louisiana Economic Development Don Pierson will be releasing The Economic Impacts of Port Fourchon on the National and Regional Economies Study.

The press conference will begin at 2 p.m. at the Greater Lafourche Port Commission's Administration Office located at 16829 East Main Street, Galliano, LA.

Highlights of the study include:
•Port Fourchon's regional (Houma MSA) economic impact includes $1.5 billion in business sales and $350 million household earnings
•If Port Fourchon had a three week loss of service for any reason, it would equate to a national economic impact of $9.9 billion in sales loss, $2.9 billion in household earnings loss, and 77,440 jobs loss nationally.
