Vroon expands support fleet

Offshore staff

DEN HELDER, The Netherlands -- Vroon Offshore Services has ordered four further field support vessels from the Astilleros Zamakona Pasaia shipyard in Spain.

The contractor has now commissioned 13 newbuild vessels of the IMT 955 design from this yard, with an option for another two. Three of the vessels have been delivered, with a fourth due for delivery this month. The remaining nine will come into service during 2008-11.

All the vessels are equipped to provide both deck and under-deck cargo support, in addition to emergency response and rescue cover services. All also feature diesel electric propulsion systems.

Vroon has a further four (T-class) emergency response and rescue vessels on order from Damen in Holland, all of which should be completed next year. The company currently has a fleet of 58 vessels operating out of three European bases.
