Offshore staff

DUBLIN, Ireland --Island Oil & Gas has spudded appraisal well 57/2-3 on its Schull field gas prospect in the Celtic Sea, off southern Ireland.

Total discovered Schull in 1987, the well encountering a 60-ft (18-m) gas column. According to Island, the area contains two more potential gas structures, Schull Central and Schull North.

The location, in exploration license 5/05, is southwest of the producing Seven Heads gas field and associated infrastructure linking that field to Marathon's Kinsale A platform. The semisubmersible Petrolia, which is drilling the well, will afterwards undertake another assignment for Providence Resources.
