LONDON, UK --RWE Dea has started gas production from the Cavendish field in the UK southern North Sea. Development work on the block 43/19a field started in July 2005, and production should continue through 2016.

The development is based around a six-slot minimum facilities platform, built by Heerema in Vlissingen, in a water depth of 18.5 m (60.75 ft). Production is exported through the ConocoPhillips-operated Caister Murdoch trunkline, via 47 km (29 mi) of newly laid 10-in (25.4 cm) pipeline, installed by Technip. The gas is then transported to the terminal at Theddlethorpe on the Lincolnshire coast of England.

Initial production from the first well, drilled by Noble Asset (UK), should build to 60MMcf/d of gas. Dea UK Development operates Cavendish with 50% equity, the balance held by partner Dana Petroleum (E&P).
