Aker Kværner commissions sulfate units off Brazil

Aker Kværner has commissioned two offshore sulfate removal units, one Petrobras' P-50 FPSO and the other on the Cidade do Rio de Janeiro FPSO.

LYSAKER, Norway --Aker Kværner has commissioned two offshore sulfate removal units, one Petrobras' P-50 FPSO and the other on the Cidade do Rio de Janeiro FPSO. The capacity is 220,000 b/d of low sulfate water at P-50 and 120,000 b/d at Cidade do Rio de Janeiro.

The SRUs are part of the increased oil recovery activities supporting Petrobras to maintain and increase the oil production in the Campos basin.

In addition to the facilities in operation, Aker Kvaerner Process Systems is supplying similar equipment for two more Brazilian projects; TheP-54 project, expected to be commissioned shortly, and the FPSO Cidade do Niteroi scheduled to be commissioned at the end of 2008.
