ABERDEEN, UK -- Veripos has extended the Far East sector of its globalized multi-source differential GPS service with the establishment of new reference station facilities at Kushiro on Hokkaido Island, Japan.

The new station was the company's response to increased development of the Sakhalin oil and gas basin as well as other positioning market requirements in the area, Veripos says.

The new facilities complement existing reference stations at Sakhalin Island itself and on the Chinese mainland as part of an integral DGPS service for high-accuracy positioning throughout the Far East on behalf of leading offshore operators of 3D seismic, survey, and DP construction vessels, the company says. The stations collectively provide Veripos' proprietary standard service for multi-station positioning solutions.

The service is compatible with all types of GPS receivers using the RTCM SC104 V2.3 correction format, Veripos says.
