Statoil cleared for Glitne well

Offshore staff

STAVANGER, Norway -- Norway's Petroleum Safety Authority has approved Statoil's plan to deploy the Ocean Vanguard on its Glitne field development in the North Sea.

The semisubmersible rig will drill and complete well 15/5-A-7-H as an oil producer under an eight-week drilling program. Glitne, located 1.4-km (0.87 mi) north of Statoil's Sleipner complex, is produced via an FPSO. The new well is part of an ongoing campaign to improve recovery from the field, and to extend its productive life-span.
