ADELAIDE, Australia -- Several options are being considered for the Scarborough field in Australia's Carnarvon basin. ExxonMobil Australia chairman Mark Nolan told participants at the Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association 47th Annual conference and exhibition in Adelaide that thought the field's 8-10 tcf of gas reserves could support an independent LNG exporting plant.

Nolan said a range of scenarios is being screened for developing the deepwater field, which is in 900 m (2,953 ft) of water 300 km (186 mi) from shore.

ExxonMobil and its 50% partner, BHP Billiton, are at work, but Nolan said it was premature to predict a timeframe for the development.
