Keppel announces four projects

Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd. has won four contracts worth $185 million for converting two FPSOs, a pipe laying barge, and an anchor handling tug at its Singapore, Brazil, and the Netherlands yards.

SINGAPORE -- Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd. has won four contracts worth $185 million for converting two FPSOs, a pipe laying barge, and an anchor handling tug at its Singapore, Brazil, and the Netherlands yards.

Prosafe SE subsidiary Production Services Pte. Ltd. contracted Keppel to convert the 276,000 dwt VLCC M/TNavarin to a gas FPSO in Singapore.

Keppel O&M subsidiary Keppel Singmarine will build an anchor-handling tug for Middle East-based Seaways International. The unit is scheduled for delivery in 4Q 2009.

Petrobras has contracted Keppel FELS Brasil SA to repair and upgradeBGL 1, a 122-m (400-ft) derrick lay barge. Keppel will carry out detailed engineering, pre-fabrication of the helideck, and dry docking. The project also includes installing six new thrusters and a DP control system, as well as living quarters upgrades. The barge is to be completed by May 2008.

Finally, Sevan Production AS has contracted Keppel Verolme BV to outfit theSevan Hummingbird FPSO. The Netherlands yard is to install a central shaft, process modules, mechanical equipment, and piping, electrical, instrumentation, hydraulic, and HVAC systems. The FPSO will be upgraded to process 30,000 b/d of oil and 20,000 b/d of water.
