ExxonMobil accelerates Jerneh B development

ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Malaysia Inc. has awarded a $14.8-million contact for the Jerneh B Gas production platform to Sarawak-based Brooke Dockyard & Engineering Works Corp.

KUALA LUMPUR , Malaysia -- ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Malaysia Inc. has awarded a $14.8-million contact for the Jerneh B Gas production platform to Sarawak-based Brooke Dockyard & Engineering Works Corp.

BDEWC will fabricate and construct the platform jacket and topsides beginning this month. The company will also carry out associated host tie-ins and offshore hookup and commissioning work on the Jerneh B platform for the accelerated field development in the second half of the year.

Production from the unmanned facility will be transported by a 16-in. pipeline to the main manned Jerneh A platform for compression and processing.

Installation of offshore facilities is scheduled for 3Q 2007, with development drilling in 4Q. EMEPMI says, The project is to be completed in 20 months, four months short of the conventional timing for such development.

Gas production is expected to begin in Jan. 2008, peaking at 150 MMcf/d.
