Sembawang wins Bluewater FPSO contract

Bluewater Energy Services BV has awarded Singapore's Sembawang Shipyard Pte. Ltd. a $98-million contract for the conversion of the newbuild Aoka Mizu Aframax-size hull.

SINGAPORE -- Bluewater Energy Services BV has awarded Singapore's Sembawang Shipyard Pte. Ltd. a $98-million contract for the conversion of the newbuild Aoka Mizu Aframax-size hull.

The scope of work includes detailed engineering and drawings for structural, piping, electrical, and automation work. The yard also will carry out fabrication and installation of steel structures, including forecastle deck structure, accommodation structure, moonpool, poop deck structure, fire and blast wall, escape route, laydown area, and flare tower.

When completed, theAoka Mizu FPSO will have oil storage capacity of 618,990 bbl and oil production capacity of 30,000 b/d. The accommodations structure will house 84. The vessel is expected to be re-delivered in 4Q 2007.

Upon completion, theAoka Mizu will work for Nexen Petroleum UK Ltd. and its co-venture partners, Bow Valley Petroleum UK Ltd. and Atlantic Petroleum (UK) Ltd. on the Ettrick field in the Outer Moray Firth about 120 km (75 mi) northeast of Aberdeen.
