DUBAI --UAE fabricator Lamprell has won two contracts for North Sea liftboats from Seajacks International, with a combined value of $224 million. Lamprell will build two harsh environment, self-propelled, four-legged jack-up vessels for use in well servicing, repair and maintenance, and decommissioning of offshore facilities in the UK, Dutch and Danish North Sea.

The vessels will comprise a hull, four truss-type legs, and four electric rack and pinion jacking systems. They will also feature a DP-2 dynamic positioning system, a main crane with 300 metric ton (330.1 tons) lift capability, and a smaller 50 metric ton (55 tons) auxiliary crane.

Seajacks should receive the vessels during 2009, and the company has agreed options for Lamprell to supply a further three vessels.
