KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia -- Shell Malaysia recently launched its billion-dollar Gumusut-Kakap FPS project in deepwater block K, offshore Sabah, Malaysia. Malaysia Marine Heavy Engineering (MMHE) Sdn Bhd. won the award for the main floating, production, and storage platform contracts.

The company will build the 16,000-metric ton (17,637 ton), 80 x 80 m (262 x 262 ft) semisubmersible platform that will have 17,000-metric ton (18,739 ton) topsides and a production capacity of 140,000 b/d of oil.
