NEW YORK -- Hess Corp. and its partners Tullow Oil and GEPetrol have begun production from the Okume complex offshore Equatorial Guinea.

First oil was achieved on Dec. 14, 2006, at the Okume B platform. Production will grow during 2007, the company says, as infield drilling progresses to 60,000 b/d peak production in 2008.

Okume complex facilities construction began in Aug. 2004 following approval of the plan of development by the Republic of Equatorial Guinea.

The complex, 241 km (150 mi) south of Bioko Island in the Gulf of Guinea, employs two tension leg platforms, three satellite platforms and a central processing platform. These facilities provide for full field pressure maintenance and artificial lift capability.

The Okume complex central processing facilities are tied back to theSendje Ceiba FPSO, which provides crude storage and loading capability.

Hess operates the Okume complex with 85% working interest.
