Flamant-1 off Mauritania P&A'd

ABERDEEN, Scotland -- Dana Petroleum, as operator, is preparing to P&A the Flamant-1 exploration well offshore Mauritania in block 8. There were no significant indications of oil, but there were gas signs throughout the 1,150 m-thick carbonate target zone.

Well data, which includes rock samples and pressure data, will be evaluated before planning further activity in the block.

The Flamant-1 was drilled to a TD of 3,275 m. below sea-level. The top of the main target was encountered at 2,111 m.

In block 8, Dana holds 41.5%, Hardman Resources Ltd. has 18%, Roc Oil Co. has 2%, Wintershall holds 25%, and Gaz de France retains 13.5%.

Following the completion of abandonment operations on Flamant-1, the Atwood Hunter drilling rig will move to block 7, offshore Mauritania to drill the Dana operated Aigrette well.
