Gadwall delivers first oil

April 20, 2005
Venture Production and Dana Petroleum, joint operators, produced first oil from the Gadwall field in the UK Central North Sea. Gadwall is being developed as a subsea tieback to the Kittiwake platform via one production well, a re-completion of the 1996 discovery well 21/19-6, using the semisubmersible Sedco 704. During this fall, a water injector will likely be drilled to provide reservoir pressure support from 2006 onwards.

Gadwall's gross proven and probable recoverable reserves are estimated at 6.4 MMbbl and 4.3 bcf. This is Dana's tenth producing field in the UK sector. The company is involved in four more new field developments in the sector and expects to sanction appraisal wells on a further five fields before the end of 2006.
